Seyyid Ahmed Arvasi by himself
I was born on Monday, February 15, 1932, in Doğubeyazıt town of Ağrı province. We are in the village of Arvas (Doganyayla) in the town of Müküs (Bahçesaray) in Van. In our neighborhood, we are known as Arvasi, after the name of this village. After the Surname Law was enacted, the name of our village became our surname. My father is Abdulhakim Efendi, who is retired from the Van Customs Directorate, and my mother is Cevahir Hanım, a housewife. I have 5 siblings, one of which is older than me. I am married. I am currently the father of 6 children, 5 of whom are alive.I graduated from Doğubeyazıt. I started secondary school in Karaköse and finished in Erzurum. Then I enrolled in Erzurum Boys’ Teachers’ School (which later became Nene Hatun Girls’ Teachers’ College). In 1952, I worked as a primary school teacher and completed my military service as a reserve officer. In 1952, I worked as a primary school teacher and completed my military service as a reserve officer. Then I enrolled in Ankara Gazi Education Institute, Department of Pedagogy. I retired in 1979. I have the consciousness of Turkish nationalism, which considers living according to the faith and morals of Islam as the greatest happiness, and wants to see the Turkish nation as a saint and happy in both worlds, and thus aims at Islam. In my understanding of nationalism, there is no place for racism, regionalism and narrow-clan consciousness. I am against all forms of racism, whether it comes from the minorities or the majority. In addition, our glorious Prophet said, “A person cannot be accused of loving his people. The master of his people is the one who serves his people. The love of the country is based on faith.” I am also committed to the lofty principles they set forth in their style. On the other hand, I do not forget that Islam is a divine system that tries to unite all humanity under the banner of oneness with a conquest from near to far.I believe that it is necessary to modernize rapidly, depending on the holy measure he formulated as “He should take it wherever he finds.” This will be the rebirth (renaissance) of Turkish-Islamic culture and civilization. and in the light of the explanations of the great mujtahids of the sunnah path. I believe it is possible to be both Turkish and Muslim and to lead the contemporary world. We should never forget that foreign ideologies are the idea fronts of foreign and invading states. They are insidious traps that strike nations from the inside. I know this, because I believe this, because I owe a great deal of honor and conscience to stand up to the plots and plots to break up the Turkish nation. be an East Anatolian child Of course, I could not remain indifferent to the treacherous intentions and treacherous schemes that were wanted to be wrought around the region where I was born and grew up.Only God knows what tricks, plots, and persecutions I have been subjected to in order to turn me from this holy path. Undoubtedly, these games are not finished and they are not going to end easily. I firmly believed that if the Muslim Turkish nation and its state are strong, the Islamic world is also strong. If there is a contrary situation, the Islamic world is exploited along with the entire Turkish world. Perhaps our enemies are the ones who understand this situation best. For this reason, the first target of the evil forces that want to take the whole Islamic world captive was the Turkish state and the Turkish nation. Those who know how to take a lesson from history will see this clearly. The situation is the same today. That’s why I say; The separatists who want to destroy the Turkish state and break up the Turkish nation are not only betraying Turkishness but also Islam.

He died on December 31, 1988 at his home in Erenköy, Istanbul. He was 56 years old when he passed away. Principles of Nationalism, Hasbihal (6 vols). What makes Ahmet Arvasi’s work “The Man Who Searches for Himself” unique among his works?
As it is known, Ahmet Arvasi is a “teacher”. He is an excellent teacher with the explanation of his students. The kind we can’t find even if we search for it today… The way he explains abstract issues, basic concepts and ideas one by one in “The Man Who Searches for Himself” is partly related to his “teacher” quality.
On the other hand, he has an intellectual dignity that can be “excluded” among the intellectuals of his time, as Salih Mirzabeyoğlu puts it. Examining the concepts he dealt with meticulously, he revealed a contemplation within the circle of Islamic contemplation, especially in his work called “The Man Who Seeks Himself.” He used to recommend the works of Necib Fazıl to all his students.
In the preface of the work, Arvasî writes:
“It seems that today’s grip of “science” cannot surround people. This departure will not bring us to ourselves. The laws of the mind express frozen patterns that do not have the agility and vitality to encompass human knowledge. Here, “Human” and “Statue” are discussing the above mentioned “vitality expressing vitality”.
In his work, in which he examines subjects such as what is human, intelligence, reason, and truth, he writes on “The Science of Human Knowledge”:
If a human were to exist, values and concerns such as good, right, beautiful, freedom, creator, creation, will and consciousness would not exist for this person. However, we keep observing that these common concepts and meanings have existed throughout history, although they appear in different disguises and cadres among all people. The principles of this existence and this partnership may well be based on human beings.”
He summarizes the understanding that he puts forward as an effort to explain man according to man, not according to things, with the following questions:
“If only entities and particles outside of me compel me to be knowledgeable, and if they have anything to suggest or give me, where did they get them? Is that data inherently present in those entities? Does the color, light, movement and covering of space come from the nature of the item? In that case, is the thing in the state of an information store that it cannot reach consciousness? If both the innate presence of knowledge and its inability to be known by man are a contradiction, can’t the same contradiction be sought here? If things are both full of knowledge and lack the consciousness of knowledge, can’t this also exist for man?”
Again, the following section from the work about the nature and truth of existence:
It is understood that we are not face to face with matter and spirit as much as we think.Behind, inside and above these are matter, life, spirit, and information reaching the human mind. The human mind has reached matter, life and spirit from these qualities. We freeze the existence and existence that appear arbitrarily such as color, movement, shape and stillness with a sub-formation abstraction, and by experiencing these qualities in ourselves, we experience life, with a supra-formation abstraction, as an expression of the order and will of the Absolute Being that burns down all time. we arrive at the concept of the soul. It would be a great mistake to refer to the undeniable but incomprehensible and inconceivable Absolute Existence, that is, Allah, to one or all of these. The basis of existence is neither matter, nor life, nor spirit. Being is simply and absolutely being. What is the absolute meaning and nature of existence? Being is undoubtedly undeniable and equally incomprehensible by senses and imaginations. Matter, life and spirit are manifestations of being that can be partially grasped. Absolute Being is the only being behind them, the eternal and eternal being, which makes non-existence impossible.”
The young people who are looking for themselves read Seyyid Ahmed Arvasi’s book named “The Man Who Seeks Himself”, it will show them how the concepts are approached while they approach abstract concepts. It will also have prepared him for a training session on how to examine and question and how to conduct an opinion.
With mercy to Seyyid Ahmed Arvasi…
