Founder of the Maturidi Sect
scholar of theology
His name is Muhammad bin Mohammed. His patronymic was Abu Mansur and he became famous with the name Maturidi.
It is estimated that he was born in 852 (H.238) in the town of Maturid in Samarkand.
It is rumored that Maturidi’s lineage reached Abu Ayyub Khalid bin Zeyd al-Ansari, one of his companions. He learned the knowledge of fiqh and kalam that Imam Azam Abu Hanifa reported from Abu Nasr-i Iyad, who was a mujtahid in the science of kalam. He also learned other mental and transplant sciences from the scholars of his time.
He lived in a period when the Abbasid state began to weaken and new Islamic states were established and various political forces and sects of creed were struggling with each other. By educating himself well, he wrote various books and trained students.
Scholars with high knowledge and piety such as Abul-Kasim Ishaq bin Muhammed, Abu Muhammad Abdulkerim bin Musa al-Pezdevi, Abul-Leys al-Bukhari and Abul Hasan Ali bin Sa’id, who are famous with the name of Hakim Samarkand, they grew up in his teaching circle.
He tried to keep Muslims on the right path by explaining the Ahl as-Sunnah creed in defense and openly in the conditions of the geographical region and time he lived in.
Imam Azam Abu Hanifa’s books on faith such as Al-Fiqh-ul-Akbar, Er-Risale, Al-Fiqh-ul-Ebsat, Al-Alim wal-Mutaallim and Al-Vasiyye He classified the information of creed by explaining it with mental and transplant evidence.
With his unique method of proof and persuasion, he responded to the corrupt ideas of various perverted sects and wrote refutations. Thus, he helped Muslims get rid of perversion.
He became a mujtahid imam in matters related to the word of Ahl as-Sunnah. Those who followed the path he declared were called Maturidi.
After Ebu Mansur Maturidi, his students and students of his students conveyed this valuable information to the next generations with hundreds of books they wrote. Those who follow the Hanafi sect in practice (worship) are of the Maturidi belief. The most valuable works written by Maturidi, who devoted himself to spreading his belief, are as follows:
1.The work was published in Beirut in 1970.
2. Te’vilat-ul-Kur’an: It is a rare work on Tafsir. Samarkandhi wrote a great commentary on this work. It is also known as Te’vilatu Ahl-is-Sunna. It is available in manuscript form in many libraries.
3. Reddü Evail-il-Edille lil-Ka’bi ve Beyanü Vehm-il Mutezile: It is a work that rejects and refutes Mutezile.
4 Er-Reddü ala Usul-il-Karamita: It is a work that rejects the Karamita sect.
5. Reddu Kita b-il-Imame li Ba’zir-Revafiza: It is a work that rejects those who are hostile to the Companions .
6. Kitab-ül-Makalat fil-Kelam: It is a work on the science of Kalam.
7. Me’haz-üş-Şer’iyye: It is about the science of fiqh.
8. Kitab-ül-Cedel: He has other books besides this work on the science of Usul-i fiqh.
